Remember, we do NOT operate according to OUR strength, or OUR ability, or OUR skills. We may think that we have the RIGHT to make it from one day to the next, but we tend to forget that:
"...in him [God] we live, and move, and have our being" (Acts 17:28)
And that:
"It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not" (Lamentations 3:22);
"He has not dealt with us according to our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities" (Psalm 103:10);
"The horse is prepared for the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD" (Proverbs 21:31); 
"He [God] delights not in the strength of the horse: he takes not pleasure in the legs of a man. (11) The LORD takes pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy" (Psalm 147:10);
"... Salvation is of the LORD" (Jonah 2:9);
"For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (9) Not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8);
SO, when we are tempted to BOAST or to be overly CONFIDENT that we are SURE to do this or that, or go here or there, or get this or that, let us be wise and HUMBLE ourselves before the Lord and glorify Him, for NOTHING is guaranteed:
"Go to now, you that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: (14) Whereas you know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away. (15) For that you ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. (16) But now you rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil" (James 4:13).
Remember, it is only by GOD's GRACE, MERCY, and BLESSINGS that we can DO anything, GO anywhere, ACCOMPLISH anything, or make it through a DAY. Therefore, let us REVERE the LORD and walk HUMBLY before Him.
